Sarah Lancashire(사라 랑카셔) as Nelly, the housemaid in Wuthering Heights
록우드씨는 미혼독신 가정부를 Mrs Dean으로 부르고, 캐시와 히스클리프는 그녀를 Nelly라고 부른다. 전자는 세입자가 경륜 있는 가정부를 예의를 갖춰 부르는 호칭이며, 후자는 아이들이 자매 혹은 친구처럼 가정부를 친밀하게 부르는 호칭이다. 이 소설에서 그녀는 Mrs Dean 혹은 Nelly로 불린다.

‘High time, Heathcliff,’ I said;
I wish I had light hair and a fair skin, and was dressed and behaved as well, and had a chance of being as rich as he will be!’
‘In other words, I must wish for Edgar Linton’s great blue eyes and even forehead,’ he replied.
‘A good heart will help you to a bonny face, my lad,’ I continued, ‘if you were a regular black; and a bad one will turn the bonniest into something worse than ugly. And now that we’ve done washing, and combing, and sulking—tell me whether you don’t think yourself rather handsome? I’ll tell you, I do. You’re fit for a prince in disguise. Who knows but your father was Emperor of China, and your mother an Indian queen, each of them able to buy up, with one week’s income, Wuthering Heights and Thrushcross Grange together? And you were kidnapped by wicked sailors and brought to England. Were I in your place, I would frame high notions of my birth; and the thoughts of what I was should give me courage and dignity to support the oppressions of a little farmer!’
So I chattered on; (chapter 7)
“넬리, 날 좀 멋지게 만들어 줘. 나도 멋져질 거라고.”
“진작 그랬어야지, 히스클리프.” 제가 말했죠.
“나도 금빛 머리카락과 깨끗한 피부를 갖고 싶어. 옷도 잘 차려입고, 얌전히 굴고 싶어. 그리고 에드거처럼 부자가 될 기회가 갖게 된다면!”
“다시 말해서, 나도 에드거처럼 커다란 푸른 눈과 부드러운 이마를 가졌으면.” 그가 대답했죠. “제아무리 내가 바란다 해도 그렇게 되지는 않을 거야.”
“이 친구야, 마음씨가 착하면 얼굴도 예뻐지는 거야.” 제가 계속 말했죠. “네가 정말 흑인이라면 그리고 나쁜 마음씨를 가졌다면, 제아무리 예쁜 사람도 못생긴 것보다 더 흉할 텐데. 이제 씻었고 빗질도 했고 화도 냈으니까 네가 꽤 잘 생겼다고 생각하지 않을 건지를 나한테 말해봐. 난 그렇게 생각해. 그렇다니까. 넌 변장을 한 왕자가 되기에 적합해. 네 아버지가 중국의 황제이고, 네 엄마가 인도의 여왕이라는 걸 누가 알게 뭐야? 그분들 각자가 일주일 수입으로 워더링 하이츠와 쓰러쉬크로스 그레인지를 사들일 수 있거든. 넌 사악한 선원들에 의해 유괴되어 영국으로 오게 된 거야. 내가 네 입장이라면, 난 나의 출생에 대해 대단한 생각을 가질 거야. 그리고 내가 과거에 누구였는가 하는 생각은 하찮은 농부의 억압을 견뎌낼 수 있는 용기와 위엄을 나에게 줄걸!”
